2024 Team Stats

The Houston Astros announced on Tuesday that they moved right-hander Hayden Wesneski (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL to make room for left-hander Brandon Walter on the 40-man roster. This is a reminder that Wesneski will undergo Tommy John surgery this week, which will knock him out for the rest of the 2025 season and probably at least half of 2026, if not more. The 27-year-old former sixth-round pick in 2019 by the New York Yankees out of Sam Houston State was in his first year in Houston after three seasons for the Chicago Cubs. In six starts for the Astros before going down with a right-elbow injury, Wesneski posted a 4.50 ERA (4.78 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and six walks in 32 innings pitched. If you haven't already in redraft formats, Wesneski should be dropped.

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon was solid in his third win of the season in a 14-1 win over the Marlins on Tuesday. He allowed one run on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts over seven innings. Besides a rocky start on May 9 against the Mets, Taillon has held the opposition to three runs or less in all eight of his other starts. This outing marked his sixth quality start of the year. He'll carry a 4.13 ERA into his next start, where he's set for a nice matchup against the Rockies at home.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI, and three runs scored in Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Marlins. The 30-year-old is enjoying a nice power breakout so far in 2025, as this was his 12th of the year. That is already over halfway to the 21 and 20 homers he hit in 2024 and 2023, respectively. He's also been an RBI machine in the heart of the Cubs' order, driving in 43 runs in 45 games. He's a borderline top-20 fantasy outfielder for the rest of the season for fantasy.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is starting in center field and batting in the six spot on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins and left-hander Ryan Weathers at LoanDepot Park. Even though Crow-Armstrong is in the midst of a breakout season for the Cubbies in 2025, he'll drop to the lower portion of their batting order against a southpaw on Tuesday with the return of outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) from the 10-day injured list. The 23-year-old former 19th overall pick in 2020 has been excellent for fantasy managers so far this year with a .282/.317/.569 slash line, .886 OPS, 12 homers, 38 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 48 games, but he's also hit just .217 (10-for-46) with three of his 12 homers and 16 strikeouts in 48 plate appearances against lefties. PCA is hitless in two career at-bats against Weathers, making him more of a fade in DFS lineups on Tuesday.

Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said that catching prospect Moises Ballesteros will be sent back to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday with outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) coming off the 10-day injured list. Ballesteros, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, got his first major-league call-up when Happ landed on the IL and got some run as the designated hitter over the last 10 days. However, the 21-year-old Venezuelan backstop went just 3-for-16 at the plate with three RBI and three runs in five games and will now head back to the minors for more development. The good news, though, is that he walked twice and only struck out once in his first taste of the big leagues. If the Cubs need another bat later this year, Ballesteros could receive another call-up to Chicago.
