His mixture of a high contact rate (81.0%), long-ball proneness (1.99 HR/9) and control issues (4.43 BB/9) explain the fattened ERA. Under 4.5 Ks in six of nine starts, including an outing against the Cardinals in early May, he should again fall short. Keep in mind on the year, the Cardinals own the seventh-lowest K percentage in baseball, though they’ve only scored a laughable 90 runs over the past 30 days.
