MLB Prop Bet of the Day

Walker Buehler UNDER 7.5 strikeouts vs. San Diego (-161, BetMGM

Quite possibly the only person to possess the power to single-handedly extinguish the sizzling hand of Stephen Curry, this real-life cooler is sure to motivate Buehler to break L.A.’s shared franchise record (Sandy Koufax and Ramon Martinez) for most strikeouts (18) in a single game. The evidence, however, suggests Ks could be few and far between. Showcasing a career 10.13 K/9, the 26-year-old righty hasn’t missed bats with his usual high volume lately. In each of his last three turns, he registered four strikeouts, including in a six-inning outing against San Diego April 16. Oddly, his average fastball velocity is down 1.8 mph, which is a reasonable explanation for the decline in his swinging strike percentage and overall whiff rate. Buehler recently admitted his heater speed is a work in progress. Eventually, he’ll again consistently hit 97-98 mph. However, based on the recent trend and knowing the Padres own the second-lowest K percentage in the Bigs (20.7%), another suboptimal performance is likely.
