Texas Rangers @ Seattle Mariners

With under 10 games left in the MLB season, the Seattle Mariners need all the wins they can get. Seattle is 83-70 on the year and currently hold the final AL Wild Card spot. The Orioles are on their tail, just 3.5 games back, so the end of this season should be intense.
On the flip side, the Rangers have been eliminated for a while, but they have the chance to play spoiler to Seattle. Unfortunately for the Rangers, the Mariners have had their number all season, as Seattle leads the season series 12-5. However, the Marines have gone cold and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games. Wednesday, the Mariners will trot George Kirby out to face Martín Pérez of the Rangers. Both pitchers have had excellent seasons so far.
In 23 starts this season, Kirby is 7-4 with a 3.30 ERA, a 2.93 FIP and a 1.18 WHIP. This will be the fourth time Kirby faces the Rangers this season. In his last start against Texas, at Texas, Kirby allowed two runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings in a win. In his three starts against the Rangers this year, Kirby has only allowed four total runs.
At home this season, Kirby has been great. He has a 3.08 ERA, a .269 batting average against, a 2.99 FIP, and a 1.17 when pitching in Seattle. The Mariners are 7-4 on the moneyline in Kirby’s home stars this season.
Martín Pérez will take the mound for the Rangers. On the season, Pérez is 12-6 with a 2.90 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and a 3.21 FIP. This will be the fourth time Pérez takes on Seattle this season. In his last start against the Mariners, he allowed three runs on four hits in six innings of work.
On the road this season, Pérez has a 2.78 ERA, a .244 batting average against, a .342 slugging percentage against, a 3.27 FIP and a 1.12 WHIP. The Rangers are 12-3 straight up in Perez’ road starts this season.
While the Rangers have been able to secure wins when Pérez takes the mound on the road, I think it is time he comes back down to earth. The Mariners need this win, they are familiar with Pérez, and Kirby has been excellent against Texas this season. This game should be a close one, but I am riding with the Mariners to take home this must-win game.
