Jake Irvin has had some nice moments this season for the Washington Nationals, but he’s struggled with the long ball and his command has been off of late. Irvin has allowed 20 home runs in his 24 starts this season and 10 have come over his past six outings. He’s allowed at least 6 hits in four of those outings, and he’s coughed up 25 runs over that span. On top of that, Irvin has issued nine walks in those six outings. His 79% contact rate and 38% fly ball rate could get him in trouble against the O’s, who hit righties great.
