Chicago Cubs @ Atlanta Braves
Cubs +122 @ Braves -145 – Total 9.5 (Caesars)
We weren’t able to cash our over 5.5 hits ticket Wednesday night, as Jameson Taillon shoved for six innings. We head back to Atlanta Thursday evening in hopes of cashing our final writeup of the 2023 MLB regular season.
Marcus Stroman makes his fourth appearance since being activated from the IL a couple weeks ago. He hasn’t gone deeper than three innings since then and it’s safe to expect him to be on a pitch count and only go about four-plus innings, or around 80 pitches. Stroman was dominant in the first half of the season, posting a 2.96 ERA and 3.38 FIP, but in 22 innings since the break, he’s posted an 8.59 ERA and 4.21 FIP. The Cubs bullpen sits in the middle of the pack and has followed a similar route as Stroman. After posting a 3.90 FIP before the All-Star break, Chicago’s second-half FIP sits at 4.40.
We’re backing the best offense in baseball at the dish. You should know how dominant the Braves have been in 2023 by now. But just in case you’ve been off the grid for the last six months here are some of the categories the Bravos lead the majors in: home runs, runs, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging, barrel percentage and wRC+… to name a few.
Betting MLB during the final week of the regular season can be a little tricky, I wouldn’t blame you if you waited for the Braves to post their lineup to make sure Ronald Acuña Jr. and most of the regulars are in. Frank Brank’s MLB Model agrees with our bet, as Frank projects the Braves to score 5.1 runs Thursday night. Be sure to check the FTN Prop Shop to ensure you’re betting the best number available.
