We got back in the win column Wednesday afternoon with the Dodgers and future first-ballot Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw coming through for us. Once again, first pitch is less than an hour from this getting published, so this will be short. 

With Luis Cessa no longer in the rotation for the Cincinnati Reds, they’ve called up 31-year-old right-handed pitcher Ben Lively. Derek Law will open for the Red Legs Thursday afternoon, but Lively is expected to be the bulk guy. Lively has a 4.80 ERA, 5.03 FIP and 5.15 SEIRA in his career 120 MLB innings. The Mets’ offense ranks 10th in wRC+ at 106 against right-handed pitching this season and shouldn’t have much trouble getting six runs against an AAAA pitcher.
