Welcome to another Sunday edition of MLB Best Bets! Yordan Alvarez brought our winning streak to an end yesteday afternoon, so tonight we’ll look to bounce back!
The Padres and Dodgers will square off Sunday night after splitting the first two games of the series. Lance Lynn will make his second start as a Dodger, and Rich Hill will make his first for the Padres.
Lynn has struggled mightily at times this season. He enters with a 6.32 ERA on the year and has posted a 7.61 ERA since the All-Star break. He’ll face a Padres lineup that caught fire in the eighth inning last night, and they’ll look to carry that momentum over into this contest. Lynn has allowed at least four hits in 18 of his 22 starts this season and is allowing a 46.4% hard-hit rate and 11.2% barrel rate. We’ll trust the Padres lineup to collect at least four hits off Lynn and use that as a parlay piece.
Juan Soto has done the opposite of Lynn since the break. Soto is hitting .333 post-break compared to only .265 before the break. Over the last seven games, Soto is hitting .433 with 4 HR and 8 RBIs. Soto leads the San Diego lineup in ISO vs. RHP at .301. The young right fielder enters riding an eight-game hit streak and touts a career .333 AVG against Lynn. The last leg of our parlay will be for Soto to get at least one hit and extend his hot streak.

Lynn has been able to eat innings all season long. I expect him to go no less than five or six innings tonight. The Padres lineup will have plenty of time to collect four hits. Lynn has struggled with LHB, allowing them to hit .325. Soto, one of the best LHB in the game, is slashing .292 against RHP. We have the perfect mix tonight, so let’s end the weekend strong!
