Welcome to another Sunday edition of MLB Best Bets, presented by FTN. Alex Verdugo went hitless last week, but we’ll look to get into the win column this evening! Tonight we’ll be focusing on the Sunday Night Baseball matchup between two NL East rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves.

Dylan Covey will take the mound for Philadelphia in the series closer, and he’ll be matched up against the rising star flame-thrower Spencer Strider. Temperatures are set to be around 80 degrees at first pitch, which should set us up for a hitter-friendly environment.

Marcell Ozuna has been off to quite the roller-coaster start this season for the Braves. Ozuna averaged a horrific .091 at the plate for the month of April with a .218 SLG and .424 OPS. During that stretch, Ozuna was showered with boos from his home fans , but his scorching month of May has placed him back in good graces (.347 AVG, .747 SLG, 1.164 OPS, 20 RBI).

All the stars align for us to back Ozuna to keep his red-hot month of May going. Dylan Covey has been a bit of a journeyman in the MLB, and the journey has not been pretty. He enters with a career 6.45 ERA. Ozuna is one of the few Atlanta players with a plate appearance against Covey, and he has a .333 average and one RBI to show for it. Let’s end this weekend with a bang from one of the hottest hitters in the league this month, from “Hot-Lanta” on a Sunday Night!
