Welcome to a playoff Sunday edition of MLB Best Bets. The Texas Rangers’ season will be on the line tonight as they travel back to Houston to take on the Astros. The Rangers soared out the gate in this series, taking a 2-0 lead on the road. They’ve now lost three consecutive games, putting themselves on the brink of elimination.
Tonight we’ll see a replay of Game 2 starters on the mound, as Framber Valdez will take the hill for Houston and Nathan Eovaldi for the Rangers. Both starters gave up at least 3 runs in that game, but Eovaldi was more productive, going six innings, while Valdez couldn’t finish the third inning.
Valdez has struggled against the Rangers lineup his past three starts. Over his last 13 innings pitched, Valdez has surrendered 11 earned runs and 21 hits against Texas. With their season on the line, we’ll back the Rangers to once again get on the scoreboard early on Valdez.
