Welcome to a Saturday edition of MLB best bets. The Atlanta Braves came through for us once again Friday night and covered their first five team total. Saturday, we’ll look to win again as we take a look into Game 2 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners, taking place in T-Mobile Park.
Los Angeles Dodgers @ Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have come back down to earth a bit of the past few days. Seattle has lost five of their last seven games after Friday night’s loss to the Dodgers. Saturday Seattle will look to bounce back against future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers. Bryce Miller will take the bump for Seattle and try to keep this Dodgers lineup off the board.
Miller has shown flashes of being a quality starter throughout his rookie campaign. His 4.05 ERA also shows he’s had growing pains as expected in his first year in the majors. Saturday, Miller faces a Dodger lineup that ranks top five in both wRC+ and OBP against RHP over the last 30 days. Miller has been prone to give up contact lately surrendering at least six hits in six of his last nine games.
Julio Rodríguez will get to face the veteran lefty Clayton Kershaw for the first time in his career. Rodríguez has hit well against LHP with a .338 AVG on the season. Kershaw has been solid against left- and right-handed hitters but has struggled a bit more right righties allowing them to average .238 against him this season. Rodríguez has helped spearhead the Mariners postseason charge post-All Star break, and Saturday we’ll back him to keep his seven-game hit streak going against Kershaw or that Dodgers bullpen.
