Andrew Abbott, Cincinnati Reds, O 5.5 K

(+115, PointsBet)

Andrew Abbott has struggled with his command of late, and his high fly-ball rate has started to catch up to him, but the rookie pitcher is in a great spot to rack up six strikeouts. Abbott enters with a 9.81 K/9 and 3.16 ERA over 85.1 innings. His 3.27 BB/9 and his 54% FB rate is alarming, but the matchup is great and the environment is much better than his home ballpark in Cincinnati. Speaking of Great American Ball Park, Abbott tossed eight scoreless innings against SF earlier in the season and only allowed one hit, while striking out six.

The Giants are striking out 25% of the time, which is the fourth-highest mark in the game. They’re also striking out a quarter of the time against left-handed pitchers. San Francisco ranks inside the bottom 10 in wOBA, OBP and ISO (second-worst) vs LHP. They’re even worse at home, as they check in with the third-lowest team wOBA at .299. Only Oakland and Cleveland have a lower wOBA at home than the Giants. They also sit in the bottom five in AVG, OBP and SLG at home.
