Prellezo’s picks (7/9): Core plays and lineup construction for LOL

We’re back again with our look at the day’s top League of Legends plays of the day.

Unfortunately in Tuesday’s piece, my top stack of V5 did well, but my second- and third-favorite stacks let us down. If you told me that one of the worst LCK teams would beat the undefeated DRX, I’d have called you crazy. As for BLG, they almost pulled the upset as they won Match 1 and were winning Matches 2 and 3, but choked to the overrated iG. In Esports, we have short-term memory and move on to Thursday’s overnight new slate. If you haven’t had a chance, please, please read up on the Esports 101 article.

This takes a deep dive into what I do and lineup construction advice. Thursday is a big day, and I’ll be running 10-15 lineups. When building fewer than 30-40 lineups, I hand-build them all. How do I build them? That’s addressed in the piece linked above.

My focus for this article will be around my favorite stacks and my current plan up to this point. Feel free to reach out with any questions if you have them.

As I write this, I’ve built 10 lineups without starting lineups being announced, but this won’t affect the stacks I’m focusing on. I actually started building last night and confirmed this morning from my research that I love what I’m working with. My favorite stacks are as follows. I have listed them from favorite to least favorite:

  • T1
  • JD Gaming (JDG)
  • Vici Gaming (VG)
  • DAMWON Gaming (DWG)
  • FunPlus Phoenix (FPX)
  • Afreeca Freecs (AF)
  • LGD Gaming (LGD)

T1: I’m going back to the well and going with the heavy favorite LCK team. They face an SP squad that is 1-5 and has lost five straight since winning opening night against the worst LCK team. SP feeds kills and have been swept in three straight matches. Listen, this SP team is bad and allows an average of 15-20 kills per match. T1 is the most expensive team on the slate with FPX and T1 is the safer play. I’ll be locking them in as many lineups as possible. Avoid the JNG position as the starter always changes and if they lose one match, they’ll probably sub this person out. Don’t play Cuzz or Eliim.

JDG: For some reason, JDG is a slight favorite and priced low for the overnight slate. They have won five straight including sweeps in three. There have been talks that the Spring Split Champions aren’t the same team anymore, but I can tell you that they actually look better. They have been more aggressive and have actually been fantasy gold for DFS. Loken, ADC for JDG, is averaging over 100 points in the five-game winning streak. LGD Gaming looks like a better team this split, but they’ve lost two of their past three including an upset loss last time around. Loken, Zoom, Kanavi are on a terror and I’ll be rocking these three in a ton of lineups.

VG and DWG: A trend you will see with my articles is I try to include an upset in every writeup. Given how crazy the LPL/LCK are, we see an upset almost every night. This upset call is VG beating up on the big dogs, FPX. Ever since Zeka started taking over the MID lane, VG is 3-1 including a three-game winning streak. In his last two games, he’s averaging over 110 points and has his work cut out for him against one of the best MID Laners. FPX does not look as dominant this split, so I’ll be rocking VG as an upset pick tonight. As for DWG, they have their work cut out for them against a scrappy AF squad, but they are 5-1 including a recent win against the recent LCK champs in which they won 2-0. DWG is one of the best LCK teams and they are scoring a ton of points each night.

Bust of the night

FPX: I think FPX is still one of the top teams in the LPL, but they just don’t look like the dominate team they once were. They’re still a very good team, but I will ride the VG hot streak tonight to pull off the upset. As we saw last night, anything can happen in LOL and tonight is the night that mighty might fall again. That said, I will still be running some FPX lines because #hedgelife.

Below is an example of my builds. Please note that there are seven spots to fill your lineup. I leave the TEAM spot out of the stacks on purpose. Use of the stacks you’re using in your TEAM spot or use a heavy favorite. These are some of my favorites:

  • JDG — T1 : 4-2 stack
  • JDG — DWG : 4-2 stack
  • T1 — VG : 4-2 stack

I will have only MID or ADC at CPT. Also, when I say 4-2, I mean the following. This is an example:

  • CPT — JDG ADC
  • TOP — JDG TOP (or can use DWG TOP)
  • JNG — JDG JNG
  • MID — JDG MID
  • ADC — BLG ADC
  • SUP — BLG SUP
  • TEAM — BLG TEAM
