There might not be a more interesting team in the entire Sun Belt conference than the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns. Historically a run-oriented team, and notably having sent last year’s stud RB Elijah Mitchell to the NFL (where he quickly took the starting job from a more highly drafted Trey Sermon), this is still the identity.

But with fifth-year senior QB Levi Lewis adding both dual-threat ability and somewhat of a vertical element to their attack, ULL has been able to jump out to an 8-1 start to the season, and remain the only undefeated team in conference play. The defense has really come to play this year as well, having given up the second-fewest points in the conference thus far.

With some weaker opponents on the schedule and a strong running game, combined with a QB who has plenty of experience and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes (or see much pressure), it’s no surprise that we would want to trend toward the moneylines and unders, with the offense lacking the explosiveness to cover larger spreads against anything but the weakest of opponents, However, if you do see numbers where the Ragin Cajuns are up against a line of -7 or less, that can be enticing as the defense has done a good job of not allowing much in the second half, eliminating back door cover opportunities on shorter lines. Most of the season is already in the books, but there are still three games left and then potentially if not likely a conference championship for ULL bettors to look forward to.
