Who would have thought we’d enter Week 4 of the college football season with a 3-0 Texas A&M squad already on its backup quarterback and a 3-0 Arkansas team that has defied expectations? Here we are, and both teams have performed well against the spread. This is close to a must-watch game.
The Aggies entered the year with College Football Playoff hopes. They’re on their way to contending if their offense can simply produce when it matters the most. Arkansas is the first team talented enough to give them a lot of issues.
We have you covered from every angle of this matchup. Let’s dig in.

Texas A&M at Arkansas game preview
Here’s a look at the preview between Arkansas and Texas A&M for Week 4.
Texas A&M offense vs. Arkansas defense
There’s an embarrassment of talent on the Aggies’ offense. Rushers Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane are future NFL studs, and they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Receivers Ainias Smith and Jalen Wydermyer further threaten defenses.
And yet, the Aggies’ offense has left a lot of room for improvement. The offensive line has been solid, but the quarterback play has struggled with two youngsters. I have serious questions as to whether Zach Calzada is good enough to win these big games with.
Calzada has completed under 52% of his passes and is averaging only 6.4 yards per pass. Those numbers are to be expected of a Group of 5 starter, not a title contender. Arkansas must force Calzada to throw downfield. Their defense has given up just 142 yards per game on average.
Arkansas offense vs. Texas A&M defense
Everything on the Arkansas offense revolves around quarterback K.J. Jefferson. The Razorbacks are an excellent rushing team with every carrier with six or more carries on the year averaging over 5.1 yards per touch. The trio of Trelon Smith, Raheim Sanders, and Jefferson has been particularly devastating.
The powerful offensive line will have their hands full with DeMarvin Leal and the Aggies’ front seven. This defensive unit has a ton of size and speed to combat Arkansas. But so did Texas, and we saw the Longhorns be destroyed.
Possibly the big X-factor is Jefferson’s passing ability. He’s averaging 10 yards per attempt and has been competent. If he has success throwing the ball, we could be looking at a huge upset.

CFB betting picks – Texas A&M at Arkansas
Arkansas’ running game is wonderful but they’ve yet to play a team as well-rounded as Texas A&M. Both teams score well but the Aggies prove resilient on the road and emerge as real title contenders. That said, I think Arkansas covers in a great battle.
Best bets: Arkansas +5.5 (-110)
