Every week, I will provide an update that summarizes our College Football Power Rankings. FTN’s simulation model repeats 10,000 iterations and powers our weekly College Football Power Rankings. The rankings will update at the start of each week as the model collects additional data. If you are looking for weekly picks? Check out our CFB Betting Model, which is updated every Monday for the upcoming slate of games.

Let’s take a quick look at the biggest discrepancies from the AP Top 25 to our own FTN Power Rankings.

Texas Longhorns

AP Ranking: 1
FTN Power Ranking: 1
Change: +2

The Longhorns leapfrog both Ohio State and Georgia to claim the top spot in this week’s FTN Power Rankings. Texas destroyed Oklahoma 34-3, to move to a perfect 6-0 on the season. The Longhorns convincing win sets up an incredible home matchup with current No. 5 Georgia Saturday night.

Missouri Tigers

AP Ranking: 19
FTN Power Ranking: 16
Change: +4

The Tigers responded to a tough 41-10 loss at No. 25 Texas A&M to crush UMass 45-3. The Tigers have a chance to continue to rise up the ranks with a home game against Auburn before a trip to No. 7 Alabama. Quarterback Brady Cook has accounted for 11 total touchdowns and just one interception.

Iowa Hawkeyes

AP Ranking: NR
FTN Power Ranking: 20
Change: +3

When head coach Kirk Ferentz gets to coach from in front, Iowa is very tough to beat. The Hawkeyes responded to a 35-7 loss at No. 3 Ohio State with a dominating 40-16 victory over Washington. Running back Kaleb Johnson posted 166 yards and three touchdowns in Ferentz’s 200th career victory. Iowa has three winnable Big Ten upcoming matchups at Michigan State and home to Northwestern and Wisconsin.

BYU Cougars

AP Ranking: 13
FTN Power Ranking: 34
Change: +12

The Cougars were our biggest risers of the week, ascending 12 spots to No. 34 overall in our FTN Power Rankings. They are up an incredible 52 spots from our preseason ranking of 86th overall. BYU continues to impress with a perfect 6-0 record, ascending to No. 13 in the AP Poll. The Cougars blitzed Arizona 41-19, posting their fourth straight game with 34 or more points. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff continues to lead the way for BYU, with 14 passing touchdowns while leading BYU with 184 rushing yards. The Cougars host Oklahoma State Friday night before going on the road for two straight road games at UCF and at Utah.
