Men’s College Basketball 2021-2022 Season Preview: Texas A&M Aggies

The SEC is loaded this year as most teams used the transfer portal to their advantage and shored up their talent as well as their depth. Teams like Kentucky, Tennessee and Auburn built elite freshman classes while LSU, Arkansas (as usual) and Florida made key additions via the portal.

SEC slates are going to be high scoring and mega exciting all year long. For DFS players this is the conference that will command your attention, so keep that at the top of your mind as we go team-by-team through the SEC to preview the coming season.

Texas A&M Aggies Outlook for 2021-2022

This roster has some really interesting pieces for fantasy. Marcus Williams is the reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Year and comes back to play in his home state of Texas. Williams should take over the PG duties right away, which will push Andre Gordon and Hassan Diarra to the bench. Both had their opportunities to claim the job and neither really did much to prove they deserved it. Williams put up solid numbers in his freshman year at Wyoming averaging 14.8 PPG, 4.3 APG and 1.4 SPG. I would imagine the ball will be in his hands a lot this year.

Manny Obaseki is the second-best recruit ever in program history, behind only DeAndre Jordan. The lefty is a gifted scorer that should be given the keys to the kingdom right away. They’ve also added Tyrece Radford from Virginia Tech, a stout defender with major slashing ability. He averaged 12 PPG and 6 RPG a season ago making him a strong candidate to jump right into the starting lineup. Javonte Brown, Ethan Henderson and Henry Coleman were all buried down the depth chart in their previous stops so it’s hard to say for sure how adjusted to the college game they are. Coleman has a lot of potential and the team would be wise to give him as many minutes as possible. Brown projects as a rim protector and Ethan Henderson has a chance to be a high level role player.

Summary

The roster has been turned over with only three relevant players from last season returning. Newcomers Manny Obaseki, Marcus Williams, Tyrece Radford and Henry Coleman are the most intriguing DFS prospects. The rest of the team figure to be mostly role players, which means they will likely only hold value if super cheap during a slate.
