2-leg alternative line parlay play: Kentucky ML, Nevada (+8.5) (Tipico Sportsbook)

Leg 1: Kentucky (ML) vs. Mississippi St.

Lost seasons are rare in Lexington. Unless the Wildcats quickly and abruptly do an about-face, they will miss the NCAA Tournament for only the third time since 1992. Still, channeling Lloyd Christmas, there’s a chance, albeit an infinitesimal one for them to dance. Coach Cal does possess the athletes and defensive stalwartness to pull off the improbable. If the Kentucky team that clobbered Tennessee on the road resurfaces in Nashville, it has more than a fighting chance of ripping off multiple wins. To pull off the feat, the Wildcats must continue to purr offensively. Over their last nine games, they racked 1.125 points per possession, shooting over 73% at the free-throw line and 38% from distance. In the first matchup, UK nabbed a double-OT win 78-73. However, knowing the Bulldogs’ deficiencies offensively (No. 209 in off-efficiency last nine), Big Blue should put them on blast.

Leg 2: Boise St. vs. Nevada (+8.5)

Boise’s life on the bubble is filled with nervousness. After dropping an inexcusable game at home against fungible Fresno St., a devastating Quad 4 loss, the Broncos are placed between a rock and a hard place. They can’t afford to drop another game to a feckless opponent. Do so, and they will be on the outside looking in come Selection Sunday. Thanks to a scoring surge, Steve Alford’s club has come on strong over the last month. In the Wolf Pack’s last six contests, they’ve shot a blazing 38.2% from three and scored 1.084 points per possession. The combo of Grant Sherfield and Desmond Cambridge could prove problematic for Boise’s middling perimeter defense. Recall in their two-game regular-season series, both Nevada wins, the dynamic duo accounted for 87 total points. The Broncos do feature multiple athletic wings capable of filling up the cup. Derrick Alston drops 25 points in the box score routinely. However, Nevada’s disruptive size, formidable guard play and recent success suggest the above number is too good to pass up.
