I’d like to think I’m a decent to pretty good college basketball handicapper, but the number of one-basket and overtime losses I’ve had this season are quite numerous. Despite all that we push on as we get closer to the best tournament in sports. Let’s try to find a winner or two Wednesday.

All odds are per DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Citadel @ Western Carolina

7 p.m. ET
Western Carolina -11

These two played Jan. 3, with WCU winning 80-71 on the road in a 64-possession game. Since then, the Catamounts have lost five of their last six. It hasn’t been the offense that has been the issue scoring 80 or more in four straight games. They are shooting 38.9% from three-point range in conference play and have the lowest turnover percentage on offense. The Bulldogs have lost nine of their last 10 and have allowed 90 at Chattanooga, 82 at Furman and 86 at Charleston already this season. I think Western Carolina’s offense has a good game and we see plenty of points from them.

The Pick

Western Carolina over 75.5 points (-115)

Florida Gulf Coast at Eastern Kentucky

9 p.m. ET
EKU -7

The Colonels under A.W. Hamilton are 8-1 so far in conference play, and it’s because of an offense hitting threes and getting to the FT line. They’ve played some solid defense as well but have allowed over 70 points at home to Lipscomb, North Alabama and North Florida. FGCU doesn’t play fast at all, but on the road they’ve failed to set the pace playing faster games at Queens and Kennesaw State. They shoot threes very well and have a very poor defense. Last year this was a 97-76 game at EKU, and I could see something higher scoring like that once again here.

The Pick

Over 142
