Best College Basketball Bets Today – Free (Wednesday 2/21)

One of my favorite things to start looking at as we approach the end of the college basketball regular season is fading teams who clearly are ready for the offseason. Finding the squads who are done for the year can be quite profitable, and we have at least one of those playing Tuesady.

George Washington at St. Joseph’s

7 p.m. ET
SJU -11.5

George Washington has decided to just stop playing defense during this eight-game losing streak. The Revolutionaries are allowing teams to shoot 51.8% from two and 39% from three in conference play. Three of their last four opponents have scored over 85 points against them and the Hawks are more than capable of doing that themselves. Pace shouldn’t be an issue in this one with both teams wanting to go. SJU has lost three of four, so they’ll welcome the easier opponent to town Wednesday. Last year with a lot of the same players, St. Joe scored 91, 81 and 87 against GW.

DePaul at Marquette

Marquette -26

DePaul is 3-22 and has pretty much decided the season is over. They are one of the worst defenses in the country, ranking 345th defending the two and 341st defending the three. Tuesday, they are heading to Marquette, who is coming off an 81-53 loss on the road and doesn’t really have a look-ahead spot. This means they’ll be 100% focused on getting some frustrations out. The Golden Eagles beat DePaul 86-73 on the road back on Jan. 24, and I can see something similar here on Wednesday night. The Blue Demons won’t provide much resistance.

Marquette over 88.5 points (-110)

Pepperdine at Pacific

Pepperdine -6.5

Continuing the theme of no defense, we head to this one in the WCC. Pacific is 6-22 and has not won a conference game yet this season. They are allowing WCC opponents to shoot 60.8% from two-point land, with 12 of the 13 games seeing the opponent score over 75 points. The Tigers aren’t great offensively but have put up better efforts at home. Pepperdine isn’t good at defense either, allowing WCC opponents to shoot 56.7% from two and 40.7% from three. The pace won’t be blazing, but I think we’ll see more efficiency and both teams heading to the FT line. Meeting one was 93-78 at Pepperdine Jan. 11. Money is coming in on the under, but I’ll go against it with the over.
