The 2022-23 college basketball season is winding down as we head into Match, and we get exciting matchups in conference play. Below is favorite bet for Tuesday’s slate.
Michigan State vs. Nebraska
(Line: Michigan State -3, DraftKings Sportsbook)
What an incredible job Fred Hoiberg has done with this Nebraska team this year. They arguably have the least amount of talent on their roster in all of the Big Ten yet are winners of five out of their last six games, and that is with two of their regular starters (Emmanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary) out with injuries.
Of course, their recent form opens the door for a sell-high opportunity as Michigan State comes to Lincoln to matchup with the Huskers for the second time this season. Sparty has been playing much better as of late and are coming off an incredibly bad overtime loss at Iowa where they were in control for 39 minutes of regulation. I’ve noted this before, but I do think Michigan State is one of the better teams in the Big Ten when fully healthy due to the advantage they have in on the perimeter with AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker. The Spartan offense is heavily reliant on Hoggard’s ability to dribble penetrate and get in the lane to make plays for his teammates, and in the first matchup in East Lansing, Nebraska couldn’t defend the pick and roll or keep the Spartan guards out of the lane leading to an 18-point loss. Nebraska’s roster is a bit thin since the last meeting and per the Shot Quality data, Nebraska’s recent run has a bit of luck tied to it with two of their last four wins grading out as expected losses. As the season winds down, I’ll lay the points here and take the superior backcourt against a Nebraska team that could be a bit overvalued due to their recent form.
The Pick
Michigan State -3
