Welcome to the week before Christmas, where some of the slates aren’t exactly the most spectacular. Now is the time to figure out what teams we want to back or fade.
There’s a healthy enough sample size for teams now that we know what to expect. Let’s look into some of the top bets for Monday in the college basketball landscape.

SC State at UNC Asheville
6 p.m. ET
UNC Asheville -13.5
The home Bulldogs are on a three-game losing streak and are currently 5-6 on the season. They return home to host South Carolina State and are a team with way too much talent led by Drew Pember on the inside. SC State has one of the worst defenses in the country, ranking 346th defending the two and 264th defending the three. On the road, they’ve given up 96 to South Florida, 89 to Samford, 90 to Tulsa and 92 to Missouri State. Last year, this game was 94-84 at South Carolina State. I think UNC Asheville gets some frustrations out here.

Delaware State at Wake Forest

Wake Forest -21
Both of these teams are coming off nine-day breaks, but I feel like we are getting a good number here on the total. The Hornets want to go fast and struggle as a team defending the three where opponents are shooting 39.3%. On the road, we’ve seen this squad give up 86 at Texas and 81 at NJIT. Wake Forest plays with an average pace, but they are somewhat like a chameleon in that if their opponent goes slow, then they will go slow. With DSU wanting to push the pace, I feel like we’ll see some scoring here and a quicker game. The Demon Deacons should be able to make a ton of threes and get us there because of that.
