College basketball season is back, which means it’s time to search for betting edges on the hardwood.

Below, you’ll find FTN’s college basketball power rankings for the 2024-2025 season. These will be updated every week after games, adjusting for results, news and injuries. We can use these ratings to create a point spread between any two teams in the country on a neutral court. Just subtract the lower team’s rating from the higher-ranked team’s rating. If you compare that number to the spread of a particular game, you can find situations where FTN identifies a betting edge. We will also keep track of teams that are trending up or down, helping to further identify value compared to the public’s perception on media polls.

Here is the latest iteration of the FTN College Basketball Power Rankings for the 2024-2025 season!

Key Takeaways

  • If you didn’t realize this before, Florida is a legitimate National Championship contender. The Gators ascended three spots in this week’s FTN Power Rankings after the two most impressive wins of any team in college basketball. Florida destroyed Tennessee by 30 points and earned a true road win at Arkansas by eight points.
  • Texas Tech was the big riser of the week, elevating seven spots to No. 10. The Red Raiders had the perfect response to an 87-83 home loss to UCF, tallying road wins at Utah and BYU. The Red Raiders also played exceptionally well in an 85-84 overtime home loss to Iowa State.
  • Gonzaga took a huge tumble, falling seven spots down to No. 14 in our FTN Power Rankings. The Bulldogs have won five straight games, but allowing 80 points at home to San Diego and 75 points to Washington State causes the Zags to drop.
  • Connecticut is again our biggest faller, plummeting an additional eight spots to No. 18 overall. The Huskies are struggling without star freshman Liam McNeeley and lost 68-66 at Villanova last Wednesday. The Huskies have a chance to stay afloat at the top of the Big East with three home games in the next four contests.
  • Our biggest riser in the top 25 is Michigan State, which rises nine spots to No. 21 overall. The Spartans have the nation’s third-longest active win streak at nine games, and are a perfect 5-0 in Big Ten play. A home date with Illinois next Sunday looms large.
