Share

Check out our entire college basketball season preview!

The college basketball season is less than two weeks away, and here at FTN Fantasy we have you covered for what promises to be another thrilling year of upsets and incredible finishes. We will be previewing each team from all of the major conferences along with some mid-majors as well. We will recap betting trends from last season, list projected starters, preview the season and talk about any key players for that program.

The ACC is home to some of the most storied programs in the history of college basketball. Lately, the Final Four champion has come out of the Big East or the Big 12, but the ACC has a great chance to reclaim the title of the best conference in CBB. There has been an influx of talent via the transfer portal, good old fashioned recruiting and the additions of SMU, Stanford and Cal.

Let’s take a look at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

2024-25 College Basketball Season Preview: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Conference: ACC
Head Coach: Damon Stoudamire (2nd season)
2023-2024 Record: 14-18
ATS: 15-17
O/U: 16-16
Projected Starters: G Naithan George, G Javian McCollum, G Kowacie Reeves, F Luke O’Brien, C Baye Ndongo

The Jackets did lose Miles Kelly and Deebo Coleman, but they were able to keep the most intriguing players from last year’s roster, so there is plenty of reason for optimism around the program. Baye Ndongo, Lance Terry, Kowacie Reeves and Naithan George are all back once again.

Javian McCollum (13.3 PPG at Oklahoma), Duncan Powell (12.1 PPG at Sacramento State), Luke O’ Brien (6.7 PPG at Colorado) and Ryan Mutombo (.7 PPG at Georgetown) were the marquee portal additions. The recruiting class includes three four-star players in Jaeden Mustaf, Darrion Sutton and Doryan Onwuchekwa.

Key Player: Baye Ndongo

Ndongo is a player to watch this season and made the ESPN Top 100 list after breaking out as a freshman. He is also a preseason All-ACC second team selection after averaging 12.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG last year. It’s noteworthy that he has added 25 pounds since his freshman season, which adds further to his physicality. The versatile big man has underrated ball-handling skills and is far from a one-dimensional player. He is an elite rim protector and has a shooting touch that makes him one of the more intriguing prospects in the conference.
