WNBA Best Bets (Saturday 6/1)

We have a Saturday island game in the WNBA, and it’s a good one. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will meet Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for the first time since turning pro. Kamilla Cardoso will also make her WNBA debut after missing the first few weeks with a shoulder injury, suffered during the preseason. 

Below, we will be going over our best bet for this clash of top rookies.

Caitlin Clark Over 6.5 Assists

It’s unfortunate the WNBA doesn’t have the same tools to track advanced data like the NBA, as I’d love to see how Caitlin Clark’s passes made, touches and potential assists have fluctuated over her first nine games as a professional, but just watching her game-by-game, you can see she’s building some comfort and confidence in this Fever offense. Through nine games, Clark ranks fifth in the WNBA in assist rate, with an excellent 35.5% rate, while ranking fourth in assists per game with 6.6.

I look at Clark’s first four games and see she only averaged 5.5 assists per game, failing to top a 28% assist rate in two of four games. Over her last five games, Clark is averaging 7.4 assists per game, while posting an assist rate of at least 34.8% in all five games. She’s additionally gone over this number in four of those last five contests. With Clark finally settling into her role in this Fever offense, to get plus money at 6.5 assists appears to be excellent value.
