The Sweet Spot: MLB Fantasy Picks Today for DFS (5/20)

Share

Every Monday, I try to turn the daily MLB slate writeup into more of an evergreen, DFS strategy/theory piece to which you can return at any time and still find value. Shoutout to Shazzam for the question/topic for today’s article — when to pass on great GPP Scores.

At the heart of the answer lies the meaning of the GPP Scores — a positive number means the player is under-rostered, a negative number means the player is over-rostered. Now, let’s recall the ideal components of an MLB GPP lineup:

  • SP1
  • SP2
  • Primary stack
  • Secondary stack

There are three reasons why I may ignore a great GPP Score:

  1. A hitter can have a great GPP Score without his team being a good primary or secondary stack.
  2. There can be a structural reason for the player being under-rostered more so than the field underestimating him.
  3. I already have enough contrarian upside in my lineup.
