Jackson Holliday Not In Game 1 Lineup

Baltimore Orioles rookie infielder Jackson Holliday is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the wild-card series on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals at Camden Yards with a lefty on the mound. Jordan Westburg is starting at the keystone and is hitting second, while Ramon Urias will play third base and hit seventh against Royals left-hander Cole Ragans. While Holliday has a bright future, the O's are going to shield him from facing southpaws in the postseason, and for good reason. The 20-year-old former first overall pick in 2022 had his moments in his rookie season in 2024, but he finished by hitting just .189/.255/.311 with a .565 OPS, five home runs, 23 RBI, four steals and 69 strikeouts in 208 plate appearances and 60 games. He went 4-for-40 (.100) with one of his five home runs and 16 strikeouts in 46 plate appearances against lefties. Holliday finished off September with a .218 average, no homers, three RBI and 17 K's in 21 games.

Jackson Holliday Sitting On Saturday

Baltimore Orioles second baseman/shortstop Jackson Holliday will take a seat on Saturday afternoon. The former No.1 prospect in baseball started at the keystone over the past three games. During this stretch, he has tallied only one hit while striking out five times. As a result, Livan Soto will cover second base on Saturday and bat in the eight-hole. While Holliday has struggled throughout his first professional season, he has begun to find stable playing time, which is a good sign for his fantasy stock going forward. Through his first 50 major league games, Holliday sits with a .171/.224/.300 slash line. Soto is best to leave out of your DFS lineup as he has yet to tally a hit this month.

Jackson Holliday Records Pinch-Hit, Three-Run Double To Give Baltimore The Win

Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jackson Holliday hit a pinch-hit, three run double in the sixth inning during the Orioles 3-2 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday. The three-run double ended up being a game-winning hit for the rookie who now has a .572 OPS on the season. While Holliday's rookie season has not gone the way he would have liked it, this result in a high-stress scenario is a great sign for the 20-year-old. Saturday marked just the second game in August that Holliday has not been in the Orioles lineup, likely a combo of giving the rookie rest and avoiding a left-on-left matchup against Astros starter Framber Valdez. With the Astros starting left-hander Yusei Kikuchi on Sunday, there is a chance Holliday may be held out of the lineup until Monday when the Orioles travel to LA and face off against struggling Dodgers' starter Walker Buehler.
