Mark Vientos Out Of The Lineup Friday

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is out of the team's starting lineup on Friday against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates for the start of a weekend series. Veteran Jose Iglesias will man the hot corner and will hit seventh for the Mets versus rookie right-handed flamethrower Paul Skenes. Vientos will get a break after starting in each of the team's last 10 ballgames. The 24-year-old has settled into a regular role at third for the Mets while hitting an impressive .291/.346/.568 with a .913 OPS, 11 home runs, 29 RBI and 26 runs scored in 148 at-bats in 2024. He's off to a good start in July, too, going 5-for-16 (.313) with a homer, double and four RBI in four games. Iglesias has swung a hot bat since joining the Mets as a utility man but has little upside in Friday's matchup against Skenes while hitting near the bottom of the lineup.

Mark Vientos Goes Yard Wednesday

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos went yard in Wednesday night's loss to the division-rival Washington Nationals, smashing his 11th home run of the season. Vientos crushed a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the Mets a temporary 3-0 lead, tagging Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker for the blast. In 145 at-bats this year, the 24-year-old hard-hitting infielder is batting .297 with 11 long balls and 29 RBI alongside a .931 OPS. Vientos has solidified himself as New York's everyday player at the hot corner going forward, and he should be rostered in all fantasy leagues until further notice.

Mark Vientos Hits Two Homers Tuesday

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos stayed hot at the plate in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees. Vientos went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a strikeout. Vientos hit the first of four HR off of Gerrit Cole in the second inning and added another one in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old has put together a solid offensive season, slashing .297/.349/.576 with nine HR, 21 runs scored, and 20 RBI in 129 plate appearances. Vientos' biggest skill is his power, so he should continue to be a fantasy contributor if he can provide that along with a serviceable batting average.
