Keaton Winn To Have Season-Ending Surgery

San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) will have season-ending surgery on Monday and will have an ulnar-nerve transposition. Winn has been on the injured list since June with a nerve issue in his right elbow and he'll now be forced to miss the rest of the 2024 campaign. Because of the nature of his surgery, there's a good chance that the 26-year-old won't be ready for the start of spring training next year or the 2025 regular season. Before his right-elbow injury cropped up, Winn went 3-8 with a rough 7.16 ERA (4.82 FIP) and 1.37 WHIP with 48 strikeouts and 20 walks in 55 1/3 innings over 12 starts in his second year in the big leagues with the Gigantes. Anyone that was holding onto him in deep NL-only leagues can now let go.

Keaton Winn Continues His Throwing Progression

San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) allowed five runs over 2 2/3 innings in his June 20 start against the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field before going on the 15-day injured list with an elbow issue on June 22 (retroactive to June 21). It was the second time Winn has been sidelined in 2024 with an arm issue, as he previously missed more than 20 games with a right-forearm strain. An MRI exam showed no structural damage, and Winn has continued his throwing progression in San Francisco. There's no timetable for Winn's return, and the 26-year-old won't be guaranteed a rotation spot when he's healthy after going 3-8 with a 7.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB in 55 1/3 innings this year. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues can continue to leave Winn on the waiver wire.

Keaton Winn Lands On 15-Day Injured List

The San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 21) on Saturday with right-elbow inflammation. Winn will head to the shelf after allowing five earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out two in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Alabama on Thursday. It's the second time that the 26-year-old has been on the injured list already this year, and it leaves the Giants' starting rotation dangerously thin. It's unclear who will replace Winn in the rotation as we head closer to the All-Star break next month. Winn hasn't even been much of an option in NL-only leagues in 2024, as he's gone 3-8 with a bloated 7.16 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 48 strikeouts and 20 walks in 55 1/3 innings over his 12 starts in his second year in the big leagues.
