Miguel Andujar Could be Out a Couple of Weeks

Athletics third baseman Miguel Andujar (oblique) suffered a Grade 2 right-oblique strain while swinging on June 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays and landed on the 10-day injured list the next day. Andujar will be out "a couple weeks, if not longer," according to director of sports medicine and rehabilitation Brian Schulman. The 30-year-old veteran Dominican has been valuable for fantasy managers in AL-only leagues despite his lack of counting stats, as he's hit .296 (50-for-169) in 46 games for the A's this year. He has the ability to play both third base and the outfield, too, giving the team more flexibility. Barring a setback with his oblique, Andujar could return to the big-league roster in late June. In the meantime, the A's could mix and match at the hot corner with Luis Urias, Max Schuemann and CJ Alexander.

Miguel Andujar Lands on 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Strain

The Athletics announced on Monday that they placed third baseman/outfielder Miguel Andujar (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique and recalled outfielder JJ Bleday from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Given the nature of oblique injuries, there's no guarantee that Andujar will be able to return from the IL when he's eligible. The 30-year-old veteran has played both left field and third base for the A's this year and has hit just under .300 in 180 plate appearances, however, it's come with limited counting stats in three home runs, 20 RBI, 19 runs scored and one stolen base in 46 games played. With Andujar out a while, Bleday should see everyday playing time with rookie outfielder Denzel Clarke struggling at the plate in his first taste of big-league pitching. Drew Avans is starting in left field on Monday, while CJ Alexander is at the hot corner for the A's.

Miguel Andujar Back in Lineup at Third Base

Athletics infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar (ribs) is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Kyle Hendricks, starting at third base and batting sixth for Game 2 of the four-game series. Andujar was scratched from the lineup on Monday due to soreness in his right rib, but he'll be back in action a day later. The 30-year-old veteran Dominican could be a DFS sleeper on Tuesday in the matchup against Kendricks, who he has gone a perfect 3-for-3 against with three RBI in his career. Andujar is also hitting a strong .312 (39-for-125) on the season, albeit with minimal counting stats of three home runs, 19 RBI, 13 runs scored and one stolen base. He rarely strikes out but also rarely walks and has minimal power and speed for fantasy managers.
