Kendall Graveman Placed On 15-Day Injured List

The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed pitcher Kendall Graveman (back) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to March 24). Graveman has been dealing with back tightness this spring after missing the entirety of the 2024 season due to surgery on his shoulder. The veteran right-hander is set to resume throwing off a mound next week, but he's behind in his buildup, considering he didn't make any appearances this spring. He's been a useful bullpen arm over the past few seasons, registering an ERA of 3.18 or under from 2021-2023. It will be a little bit before Graveman returns to the mound.

Kendall Graveman May Not Be Ready For Opening Day

According to manager Torey Lovullo, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Kendall Graveman (back) is still fighting a back injury and may not be ready for opening day. Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reported the news. The 34-year-old faced live hitters on Tuesday and experienced more back tightness, jeopardizing his availability for the start of the season. Graveman has been working his way back to health after missing the entirety of the 2024 season due to shoulder surgery he underwent in the offseason. The news is not ideal, as Arizona signed the veteran on a one-year deal just a month ago to bolster their bullpen. Fortunately, the righty's imaging came back clean last week. Still, it's unclear when he'll be ready to go for the 2025 season

Kendall Graveman's Imaging Comes Back Clean

Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Kendall Graveman (back) underwent imaging on his back. The imaging returned clean, which suggests he avoided a significant injury. Manager Torey Lovullo said, "There's nothing alarming enough for a major setback." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he will likely remain sidelined for a few days. However, the 34-year-old has plenty of time to increase his workload prior to Opening Day. Earlier in the offseason, the Snakes signed Graveman to a one-year $1.35 million contract. Last season, Graveman missed the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum. In 2023, Graveman logged 66 1/3 innings of work with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He tallied 66 strikeouts and added eight saves. When healthy, he will likely have a high-leverage role in the Arizona bullpen.
