Jose Miranda Records Hit in 12 Straight At-Bats, A First In The Expansion Era

Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda recorded two hits in his first two at-bats on Saturday, extending his streak to 12 straight at-bats recording a hit. He did get retired once today to go 2-3 at the plate with an RBI in the Twins' 9-3 win over the Houston Astros. Miranda's streak of 12 straight at-bats with a hit was the first time in the expansion era (since 1961) and the first player overall to do it since Walt Dropo recorded 12 straight hits for the Detroit Tigers in 1952. Miranda improved his OPS to .901 on the season, the highest mark of any Twin with at least 100 PA on the season. Fantasy managers should snag up the righty if still available on the waiver wire. He'll get his next opportunity to keep his hot streak going on Sunday against Houston's scheduled starter Spencer Arrighetti.

Jose Miranda Continues Barrage Of Hits With Four Knocks

Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda continued his ridiculous string of success in Friday's loss to the visiting Houston Astros, racking up four hits with a home run and two RBI. Before lacing an RBI double to left field to give the Twins a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning, Miranda slugged a solo homer to left field off Astros opener Shawn Dubin to tie the game up at 3-3. It's been a historic run at the plate of late for Miranda, who recorded a hit in 10 consecutive at-bats over his last three games in Friday's defeat. The 26-year-old former top prospect is coming into his own and burgeoning his way up fantasy rankings, slashing an excellent .324/.364/.529 with nine dingers, 20 doubles, 42 RBI, and two stolen bases through 238 at-bats this season. Miranda is swiftly becoming close to a must-roster player while star third baseman Royce Lewis (groin) sits on the injured list.

Jose Miranda Continues Breakout Campaign

Minnesota Twins corner infielder Jose Miranda tallied five hits in Thursday's 12-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. Miranda went 5-for-5 with three doubles, four runs, and three RBI in what was a massive overall day. The 26-year-old has been a revelation this season, slashing .312/.354/.504 with 32 runs, eight homers, 40 RBI, and two swipes. Although the counting stats aren't quite there, it is important to remember that Miranda wasn't playing every day until mid-May, and only has 234 at-bats because of it. He should be rostered in most leagues at this point but remains severely under-rostered. Those in need of a corner infielder should look to see if Miranda is available.
