Willi Castro Goes Deep Twice

Minnesota Twins utility man Willi Castro had a big game on Friday, going 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in a 12-6 win over the Seattle Mariners. Castro also walked twice and came in to score for a third time in extra innings. Although Castro doesn't have the most potent bat, he is a useful player for the Twins due to his versatility. Unfortunately, that only gets you so far in fantasy. The 28-year-old doubled his home run total tonight, bringing him up to four on the season. That, along with a .238 AVG, .723 OPS, 20 runs, 10 RBI, and two steals, doesn't scream must-roster player. Castro does tend to run hot at times, and this could be the start of that, but outside of very deep leagues he can remain on the waiver wire until he sustains this success.

Willi Castro Back in Action on Monday

Minnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Willi Castro (knee) is starting at second base and is batting ninth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians at Target Field. A right-knee contusion kept Castro out of the lineup for the Twins the last two games, but he's back in there now to face a pitcher in left-hander Logan Allen that he's hit .222 against with a .444 OPS in nine career at-bats. The 28-year-old was a league-average hitter in 2024 and has hit .250 (8-for-32) with a home run, one steal and eight runs scored in 10 games since he returned from the 10-day injured list on May 5 from a hamstring injury. The 28-year-old Puerto Rican switch-hitter has slashed .235/.306/.367 on the year with only two homers, six RBI, 15 runs and two steals in 98 at-bats. Castro won't be a recommended DFS target on Monday in the nine-hole.

Willi Castro Remains Out on Sunday

Minnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Willi Castro (knee) remained out of the starting lineup on Sunday during their contest against the Milwaukee Brewers. The utility man fouled a ball off his knee during Friday's contest. He was held out of action on Saturday as well. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status leading up to their next contest on Monday evening against the Cleveland Guardians. Castro has posted a modest .235/.306/.367 slash line through his first 28 games of the campaign. Castro has gone deep twice and swiped two bags. While he does not carry high offensive upside, the 28-year-old does have value in daily lineup leagues given his multi-positional eligibility on most platforms. If he were to remain out, Kody Clemens should continue to see starting opportunities.
