Graham Pauley, Kyle Stowers Sitting Against A Lefty

With Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander Andrew Heaney starting the series finale on Sunday at loanDepot Park against the hosting Miami Marlins, both third baseman Graham Pauley and outfielder Kyle Stowers will start on the bench. Jonah Bride will make the start at third base and will hit fifth, while Javier Sanoja is starting in left field and batting in the nine-hole for the Fish. Neither Bride nor Sanoja have ever faced Heaney. The 24-year-old Pauley and the 27-year-old Stowers will be regulars in Miami's starting lineup when the team faces right-handed pitchers, but they will often be rested against southpaws. Pauley has started the year 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI in the first two games of the year, while Stowers has gone 4-for-12 with two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in 14 trips to the plate over three games played.

Kyle Stowers Makes Opening Day Roster

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers has made the team's Opening Day roster, reports Isaac Azout. Whether he has won the starting left-field job is yet to be known, but he should at least see some playing time as part of a platoon. He hasn't exactly shown out during Spring Training, batting just .162 with a 34.7% strikeout rate. After being traded to the Marlins at the trade deadline in 2024, he slashed .186/.282/.295 with two home runs in 50 games. He did show some positive signs in 2024, like a 51.3% hard-hit rate, but he clearly has some work to do before he becomes a relevant player for fantasy.

Kyle Stowers Batting Third In Marlins Debut

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers is starting in left field and is batting third in his team debut on Wednesday against the hosting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Taj Bradley. The Marlins acquired Stowers on Tuesday as part of a package that sent left-hander Trevor Rogers to the Baltimore Orioles. The 26-year-old was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville and should now get an extended look in the big leagues in Miami after playing for Triple-A Norfolk for most of 2024 due to Baltimore's crowded outfield picture. He hit .306 (11-for-36) with a homer, four doubles and nine RBI in 19 games at the big-league level this year but has hit just .229/.274/.369 with four homers and 20 RBI in 67 games in the majors after debuting in 2022. At the very least, Stowers deserves attention in NL-only leagues given his new big-league opportunity.
