Kenley Jansen Earns Save No. 12 On Monday

Los Angeles Angels closer Kenley Jansen notched his 12th save of the season in Monday's 7-6 win over the Red Sox. Jansen came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by one and shut the door with a 1-2-3 outing, including a strikeout. The 37-year-old may not have the peripherals he used to provide earlier in his career, but he has converted all of his save opportunities with a 4.91 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, an 8.35 K/9 rate, and a 1.96 HR/9 rate in 18 1/3 innings of work. He may be towards the end of his career, but his strong job security should still make him a useful fantasy option in at least most roto leagues, despite his uninspiring ratios.

Kenley Jansen Dealing With Illness, Expected To Be Fine Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels closer Kenley Jansen (illness) was "under the weather" during the team's victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, according to manager Ron Washington. However, Jansen is expected to be fine to pitch on Wednesday as the series against Toronto continues. The 37-year-old veteran right-hander has not pitched since Saturday, when he picked up his seventh save of the year. Jansen's surface numbers don't look too appealing, as he's sporting an 0-1 record with a 5.79 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, nine strikeouts and two walks to go along with his seven saves in 9 1/3 innings pitched. However, all six of the earned runs that he's allowed so far in 2025 came in a disastrous loss to the Detroit Tigers on May 2 in which he gave up six runs on six hits (three homers) with no walks and a strikeout in just two-thirds of an inning. If a save situation arises on Wednesday, Jansen should be available.

Kenley Jansen Records His Sixth Save Of The Season

Los Angeles Angels closer Kenley Jansen worked the ninth inning of Thursday's 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jansen entered the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead, throwing 14 of his 18 pitches for strikes. He allowed a base hit with one out before getting a strikeout for the second out, and he got Oneil Cruz to line out to end the game while the possible tying run was on first base. The 37-year-old right-hander has converted each of his six save chances and has not allowed a run in eight innings of work while maintaining a 26.7 percent strikeout percentage. With Ben Joyce (shoulder) also on the injured list, Jansen is relied upon even more for high-leverage work. He has also given the Angels no reason to doubt him as their primary closer moving forward. Next for the Angels is a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on the road.
