Corey Seager Won't Return for Another 7-10 Days

Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said on Thursday that shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) isn't scheduled to return from the 10-day injured list for another seven to 10 days. This is already Seager's second stint on the IL this year due to a right-hamstring issue, and it's his third hamstring injury since 2023, so the Rangers are seeking preventative steps so that it doesn't become an issue again in 2025. Although the 31-year-old veteran's return isn't imminent, he has been running and is doing "very well" in his rehab. Seager's hamstring issues this year have been frustrating for his fantasy managers, but when he's been on the field, he's been great, hitting .300 (30-for-100) with six long balls, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored. Continue to stash the two-time World Series MVP in all formats. Until he returns, Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran will continue to split playing time at the 6.

Rangers To Be Extra Cautious With Corey Seager This Time

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list with a right-hamstring strain on Tuesday for the second time in less than two weeks. It's similar to the injury that kept him out from April 23 to May 2, but manager Bruce Bochy said Seager's current strain is "in a little different area" of his hamstring. "We want to make sure that this thing is healed up," Bochy said. "We don't want him playing at 75, 80 percent. It could be [more than 10 days]. I don't know for sure." Despite the hammy setbacks this year, the two-time World Series MVP has hit a strong .300/.346/.520 in 26 games in 2025. In his last game on Saturday, he recorded two homers and a double. Josh Smith missed the last few games with a minor back injury but returned for Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, and he should see most of the playing time at the 6 until Seager returns, which might not be until later this month.

Corey Seager Officially Goes Back On Injured List

The Texas Rangers officially placed shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) back on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right-hamstring strain and reinstated catcher Kyle Higashioka (intercostal) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. This will be the second time this year already that Seager has been on the IL with his hamstring injury. The 31-year-old two-time World Series MVP missed two games last week before returning on Saturday to hit two home runs, but he felt more hamstring tightness and was held out another two games on Sunday and Monday. This time around, he could miss more time as Seager looks to put the injury in the past for good. Seager should be stashed in all fantasy formats while he recovers. Josh Smith (back) should be the primary option at the 6 in the meantime, although he also missed Monday's game. Ezequiel Duran has made starts at short each of the last two games.
