Free-agent quarterback Carson Wentz signed an undisclosed deal one-year with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, according to sources. Wentz, the former second overall pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 out of North Dakota State will head to the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs after spending the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played in two games (one start) while going 17-for-24 for 163 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The 31-year-old figures to be Patrick Mahomes' primary backup heading into training camp this summer, with Chris Oladokun and Ian Book also in KC's QB room. Wentz made his lone Pro Bowl in 2017 and was looking like Philly's QB of the future until injuries flipped the script. He never was able to recover after Nick Foles and the Eagles won a Super Bowl without him.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Carson Wentz got the start and produced in the team's 21-20 win against the San Francisco 49ers. Wentz completed 17 of his 24 pass attempts for 163 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also rushed the ball an alarming 17 times for 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The veteran QB started in place of Matthew Stafford as a result of the team clinching a playoff berth. While Wentz will not get on the field unless Stafford suffers an injury in their playoff matchup with the Detroit Lions, he proved that he can still perform at a moderately high level.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Carson Wentz will start for the team in Week 18 with Matthew Stafford resting for the playoffs. Wentz will make his first start in over a year when he threw three interceptions in a loss against the Cleveland Browns. He now faces the top-seed San Francisco 49ers, who will be short-handed defensively. Considering their clinching of the playoffs, the Niners could rest players or play them cautiously on Sunday. Factoring in the Rams' aggressive pass attack and Wentz's ability to throw the ball downfield, he is worth a DFS play or a desperate Week 18 start.
