The NASCAR Cup Series has one more regular season race left — Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona — and there is one spot available in the playoffs. There are a handful of drivers who have been very successful at Daytona who sit in a must-win position to make the playoffs. There will be a lot of mayhem, and this race more than any shows that if you can get all of your rostered drivers to finish on the lead lap then you will most likely cash.
I will be ranking my top drivers in each salary tier for each week’s race to help you construct that GPP-winning lineup. This week I will not roster more than 1 driver over $9,000.
For this week’s race, I have four guys in the top tier that I’m banking on. I also have quite a few inexpensive drivers that I think can contribute to a winning lineup.
High-salaried drivers
- Joey Logano
- Austin Dillon
- Denny Hamlin
- Aric Almirola
Mid-priced drivers
- Ross Chastain
- Kaz Grala
- Ryan Preece
- William Byron
- Chase Elliott
Values
- Corey LaJoie
- Erik Jones
- David Starr
- Joey Gase
- Josh Bilicki
- Landon Cassill
- Ryan Newman
- Bubba Wallace
- Cole Custer
There is an overabundance of value drivers in my article because this is the type of race where the drivers at the back finish top 10-15 off of attrition. I generally keep one driver I believe will stay up front and then stack the best place differential. This week that is Joey Logano, Austin Dillon or Denny Hamlin, and then I will fill the rest in with value. I generally leave over $5,000 in salary on the table when constructing Daytona lines.
