Welcome to PrizePicks, PGA Tour edition. This week, we’ll be taking a look at the third major of the year, the U.S. Open.

How to play PrizePicks golf

If you’re new to PrizePicks in general, checkout the PrizePicks App Review by FTN’s Tyler Loechner. In terms of how it works for PGA, each golfer is given a projected score for each round of the tournament. Projections will vary based off what par is at each given course. You have to parlay at least two picks with at least one over, and one under in order to submit. The payouts are as follows:

  • Two-pick Power Play pays 3x (max entry: $400)
  • Three-pick Power Play pays 5x (max entry: $200)
  • Four-pick Power Play pays 10x (max entry: $100)

There is also a “Flex Play” option, in which you don’t have to get every pick correct, but the payout is slightly less.

Key stats I’ll be weighing this week:

  • SG: Off the Tee
  • SG: Approach
  • SG: Around the Green
  • Ball Striking
  • Bogey Avoidance

PrizePicks PGA picks Round 1 at the U.S. Open

This year’s U.S. Open will be played at Torrey Pines. The course will play as a par 71 stretching over 7,600 yards. Being a U.S. Open, we can assume that the scores will not be all that low. When Torrey Pines hosted the U.S. Open back in 2008, the winning score was just 1 under par. PrizePicks starts with 72.5 as the lowest projected over/under for the first round. Back in 2008, there were 30 golfers who went under this number. Over that number would be a two-over-par day. That said, the unders should play to our favor.

Here’s a look at my favorite PGA PrizePicks for Round 1 of the U.S. Open:

  • Dustin Johnson OVER 72.5
  • Jon Rahm UNDER 72.5
  • Brooks Koepka UNDER 72.5
  • Jordan Spieth UNDER 73.0
  • Bryson DeChambeau UNDER 73.0
  • Rory McIlroy OVER 73.0
  • Justin Thomas UNDER 73.0
  • Collin Morikawa UNDER 73.0
  • Xander Schauffele OVER 73.0
  • Viktor Hovland UNDER 73.0
  • Patrick Cantlay UNDER 73.0
