Analysis: Samuel heads to Washington, reuniting with head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Scott Turner. The fear with this union is what will Samuel’s role in the offense be? In 2019, Samuel was pigeonholed as just a deep threat, ranking eighth among wide receivers in deep targets (27). His rushing equity was also cut in half from the heights of 2020 (41 vs. 19). The big plus for Samuel’s prospects if he’s expected to serve mainly as a traditional field stretcher is the arrival of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Last season, Fitzpatrick ranked third in deep adjusted completion percentage (52.4%) among all quarterbacks with 20 or more deep attempts.
