College Football Betting Picks: Week 3

We’re entering Week 3 of the college football season, and the betting opportunities are nearly endless.

Today, I’m picking out my favorite bet of this week, and this time, it happens to be a parlay.

USC/Oklahoma/Pittsburgh Moneyline Parlay

Combined line -108, DraftKIngs Sportsbook

USC was one of my favorite preseason targets, and they’ve performed up to expectations so far. While they haven’t had any real tests yet, Stanford was supposed to be a relatively close matchup, but USC took care of business winning handily. While I’m not as convinced that USC covers this spread, I do think they win outright. Fresno State has been solid so far, beating Cal Poly 35-7 and narrowly losing 35-32 to Oregon State. They were able to move the ball well against Oregon State, but they haven’t been asked to run with a team like USC all season. Caleb Williams, a Heisman candidate, has been impressive both through the air and on the ground, avoiding turnovers and creating chunk plays. This team has a plethora of offensive weapons in Jordan Addison and Travis Dye, I’m expecting USC to continue the offensive explosion.

Oklahoma may not have the hype they normally do this year, but they are surely two touchdowns better than Nebraska. While firing Scott Frost was a good way to stop the bleeding, that doesn’t mean this team is suddenly going to turn things around overnight. Oklahoma hasn’t had any real tests so far, running over both Kent State and UTEP in fairly easy fashion. Transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel has looked good in this new system, with weapons Marvin Mims and Eric Gray performing well in limited use. I’m a fan of Nebraska QB Casey Thompson (I bet him to win the Heisman last year, twice) and I do believe this team can keep this game somewhat within reason. That said, I don’t think the Nebraska defense has the capabilities to slow OU down.

Finally, Pittsburgh, a team that has been good to me this season. Despite losing Kenny Pickett to the NFL draft and Jordan Addison to USC, this team has started the season strong. They handled business against West Virginia in Week 1 and narrowly lost to Tennessee in overtime last week. Pittsburgh possesses strong offensive and defensive lines and should dominate the trench wars. Western Michigan is a solid team, who I think should be able to stay close within reason, but I do think they fade away in the second half. Similar to the Michigan State game, they can keep it close enough in the first half, but the mistakes will catch up in the second. This could be a bit of a letdown game, so I’m going go straight to the moneyline and skip the spread here.
