When will sports betting be legal in Kansas? We finally have an answer to that question. State officials are planning for a soft launch Sept. 1. While there are still details being ironed out, they want sports betting to launch for the upcoming NFL season, so the operation should be full go by Sept. 8.
Kansas Sports Betting Overview
In a video announcement, Kansas Lottery executive director Stephen Durrell said the four state-owned casinos will have a soft launch Sept. 1 at noon and the official launch will be Sept. 8.
Kansas residents can be excited, but they should not get too far ahead of themselves. The state legislature only approved the bill to legalize sports betting in May. Durrell did emphasize during his announcement that there are still several hurdles to topple, but they are hopeful for a September launch.
The law will allow residents to use cell phones or computers to place bets with the four participating state casinos as well as up to 50 other locations that will be chosen by the individual stat sportsbooks.
