We are getting ready for the Sweet 16, and the West Region holds the favorite to win the entire tournament, and arguably the best team in all of college hoops: Gonzaga.

The No. 1 seed in the West, the Bulldogs, have -200 odds to make the Final Four at DraftKings Sportsbook after their thrilling win over No. 9 Memphis on Saturday. Gonzaga ranks No. 1 overall in the entire March Madness field. The Bulldogs took care of business in the West Coast Conference and had a record of 26-3 overall.

No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Texas Tech and No. 4 Arkansas have all advanced to the Sweet 16 after wins in the second round of the tournament. No. 3 Texas Tech (+380) has better odds than No. 2 Duke (+450), and No 4. Arkansas is the longshot of the field with +1000 odds.

Who Will Win the West Region in the 2022 NCAA Tournament?

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook:

  • No. 1 Gonzaga -180
  • No. 2 Duke +450
  • No. 3 Texas Tech +380
  • No. 4 Arkansas +1000

Why is Gonzaga Favored to Make the Final Four?

Out of all 68 teams in the NCAA Tournament, Gonzaga was ranked No. 1. No wonder they are the favorite to come out of not only the West but to win the entire tournament. Why is Gonzaga thought of so highly? Simply put, they are a team full of great players who win.

Gonzaga took home the West Coast Conference Tournament championship again this season. Over the course of this campaign, the Bulldogs held a 26-3 record. Gonzaga is led by two top-tier players who had award-winning seasons. Chet Holmgreen was named to the Second All-American Team while Drew Timme won the Conference Player of the Year honors for the WCC. Gonzaga’s starting lineup is bolstered by point guard Andrew Nembhard and wing Julian Strawther.

The Zags bested No. 9 Memphis in their second matchup and have seen their odds to make the Final Four improve to -180.

Final Four Odds for Duke and Texas Tech

Duke is the No. 2 seed in the West Region after putting together an impressive campaign during the regular season. Though they eventually lost in the ACC Championship to Virginia Tech, Duke still went 28-6.

In a solid Big-12 conference, Texas Tech found itself in third place and one game shy of the Big 12 trophy, as the Red Raiders were bested by Kansas in the final. Texas Tech is a rising team and has the caliber to make a stretch run. No. 2 Duke will square off against No. 3 Texas Tech on Thursday.

Can Arkansas Make the Final Four?

No. 4 Arkansas currently has the longest odds to make the Final Four in the West Region. No. 4 Arkansas will have to take down No. 1 Gonzaga and the winner of No. 2 Duke and No. 3 Texas Tech to secure their Final Four bid. Oddsmakers believe Arkansas has the toughest slate to make the Final Four from the West.
