Welcome to the prop bet tracker. As MLB season gets into high gear, another way to get in on the action is to analyzes the day’s best prop bets – from strikeouts to home runs, first to five runs to total bases logged.
Each day, we will try and identify a few picks that are ready to explode in the prop market.
Marcus Stroman Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+120, DraftKings)
As long as Juan Soto remains out, this is a Washington Nationals offense we should look to attack. It’s probably not fair using Jacob deGrom as a comparison (truly the most dominant arm of this generation), but he did record 15 strikeouts Friday. The day before against crappy Carlos Martínez of the Cardinals, they managed a single run, and the day before, they whiffed 11 times. These seems like a very nice play for Stroman and crew.
Michael Pineda Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+117, BetRivers)
I’m not sure if many people have noticed, but Pineda has quietly been a very solid member of the Twins rotation so far in 2021. Peep this – he’s racked up nearly a K per inning, and the groundball specialist has a whip of 0.72 this season. That’ll do, donkey. Today, he attacks a Ke'Bryan Hayes-less Pittsburgh offense that has a woeful .294 team wOBA mark and a 24.7% strikeout rate. Gimme.
Matthew Boyd Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-154, DraftKings)
After an opening day start where Boyd only recorded two strikeouts, a surprisingly low number, the southpaw has been pretty darn good ever since. He’s pitched deep into games (six innings or more in the last three starts), and he’s recorded back-to-back strikeout efforts of five and seven, respectively. Kansas City will show some resistance with a 21.9% strikeout rate, but I do think he gets the over here.
