It’s time for another takedown. We’ve been scorching hot on Underdog (in all three sports), but PGA DFS is one of my greatest loves and I haven’t had a takedown since The Sentry. It’s time. Here’s how we’re going to do it…

Course Fit: The 2025 Valero Texas Open

We have yet another huge weight on around-the-green play, which once again probably contributes to the strong field before Augusta. Everything else is pretty much in line with Tour average, though, so this is both a week where we’ll pretty much just be on the players who are better than their price/rostership combo, and a few players (like Webb Simpson) will stand out in the projections solely due to course fit.

1. Start your lineups with Patrick Cantlay and Hideki Matsuyama

There was a noticeable pattern last year to a lot of our takedowns — the spend up plays were made easy decisions by the GPP Scores. Lately, it’s been the opposite. In the elevated events, all of the spend-ups have had great GPP Scores and in the non-elevated events, none of them have. Well this week, we’ve got exactly what we hope for:

Cantlay and Hideki stand out in a big way because they’re first and second in projected strokes gained, win odds and top-10 odds, yet lower rostered than the other three $10k guys. That’s an inefficiency I want to take full advantage of.
