Welcome to Hoops with Noops. The NBA Cup continues, and I’m excited about that. Of course, it will never be as important as the NBA Finals, but it adds an extra element. November and December NBA games have long been lambasted for the lack of effort and even availability from the players. Last season’s NBA Cup games were well played, and teams raised their level in a way we don’t normally see this early in the season.
We saw that continue in the first set of games Tuesday, which featured several close contests that were hard fought through the very end of the fourth quarter. Will I reminisce about the Pacers’ run to the NBA Cup final last year? Will I pine for the days the Lakers could win something? Of course not, but I will certainly enjoy some high-quality basketball.
