Share

Check out our entire college basketball season preview!

The college basketball season is less than two weeks away, and here at FTN Fantasy we have you covered for what promises to be another thrilling year of upsets and incredible finishes. We will be previewing each team from all of the major conferences along with some mid-majors as well. We will recap betting trends from last season, list projected starters, preview the season and talk about any key players for that program.

The ACC is home to some of the most storied programs in the history of college basketball. Lately, the Final Four champion has come out of the Big East or the Big 12, but the ACC has a great chance to reclaim the title of the best conference in CBB. There has been an influx of talent via the transfer portal, good old fashioned recruiting and the additions of SMU, Stanford and Cal.

Let’s take a look at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

2024-25 College Basketball Season Preview: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Conference: ACC
Head Coach: Micah Shrewsbury (2nd season)
2023-2024 Record: 13-20
ATS: 18-15
O/U: 12-12
Projected Starters: G Markus Burton, G Braeden Shrewsbury, G Matt Alloco, F Tae Davis, F Kebb Njie

The Irish have a lot of continuity, as they only lost Matt Zona and Carey Booth from last season’s squad. There is a solid group of returners highlighted by Markus Burton, Braeden Shrewsbury, Tae Davis and Kebba Njie.

They went out and got Matt Alloco (12.7 at Princeton), Burke Chebuhar (7.5 PPG at Lehigh) and Nikita Konstantynovskyi (9.3 PPG at Monmouth) from the portal along with top-100 recruits Nasir Mohammed and Cole Certa.

Key Player: Markus Burton

The top player on Notre Dame is a scoring machine and essentially matchup proof at this stage of his young career. He averaged 17.5 PPG and 4.3 APG in his freshman season while shooting 42% from the field. He doesn’t get enough praise, but he has a chance to be one of the best guards in the conference, and Notre Dame may have one of the best guard groups as well which is probably a bit of a hot take. The addition of Matt Alloco will further enhance Burton’s game and allow him to focus even more on his playmaking.
