WNBA Best Bets (Wednesday 9/25)

The second week of the Monday Night Football doubleheaders kicks off with the Titans taking on the Dolphins with “Pro Bowl” quarterback Tyler Huntley set to make his debut, followed by the Seahawks taking on the Lions. I’ll be covering the latter game, which has historically had no shortage of offense. The last three meetings between the two teams have combined for an average game total of over 80 points (80.33) dating back to 2022. The Seahawks are one of only three remaining undefeated teams (3-0) and are currently sitting comfortably in first place of the NFC West. But they haven’t really been tested up to this point, having faced Bo Nix in his first career start, journeyman backup Jacoby Brissett with the Patriots and Skylar Thompson playing in relief of Tua Tagovailoa.
Fortunately they’ll be getting back their stud running back Kenneth Walker, who has missed the last two games and has his work cut out for him against a stout Lions front that ranks fourth in DVOA against the rush (-0.6%). The matchup isn’t great for Jared Goff and his weapons, who could be in for a long day. Through three weeks, Seattle trails only Minnesota (-38.2%) as the second-best unit in DVOA on defense (-36.4%), checking in at No. 1 overall against the pass (-41.8%) and third against the rush (-29.0%). However, Detroit’s offense has been significantly better at home over the last three seasons, averaging over 30 points (30.7) at Ford Field and winning 13 out its last 14 games (92.9%), including the playoffs. The Lions enter Week 4 as four-point favorites.
