San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) is considered doubtful for Sunday's game according to David Lombardi of the San Francisco Standard. Jennings has yet to participate in any team practices this week which is not a promising sign for his status. Fantasy managers should monitor Friday's injury report in case he is able to participate in a limited capacity. No. 1 wideout Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist/illness) was able to return to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday which is a good sign for his potential status as he will likely lead the passing attack. If Jennings cannot play, fantasy managers should expect rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall to see a significant uptick in opportunities. In his NFL debut last weekend he caught three of his five targets for 21 yards.
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (ankle) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday due to a right-ankle sprain. The 49ers have already ruled Moody out for the Week 8 contest on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The team has a bye upcoming in Week 9, so hopefully Moody will be ready to return to regular kicking duties for Week 10 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His replacement, Matthew Wright, was injured in his first game and subsequently placed on Injured Reserve. With Moody out again this weekend, San Fran will roll with second-year kicker Anders Carlson for a second straight week after he made both of his field-goal attempts and missed an extra point in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. At best, Carlson is a streaming option in deeper fantasy leagues.
San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) put in a second straight limited practice this week on Thursday. Mason suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder in Week 6 but was active for the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, handling 14 carries for 58 yards while catching both his targets for 11 yards. All signs point to him being active for a Sunday night primetime showdown against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, where Mason will once again a must-start RB1 for fantasy managers. He'll have the perfect opportunity for a big game against Dallas' beat-up defense that has allowed the third-most half-PPR fantasy points to opposing RBs through six games in 2024. Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is eyeing his season debut after the Niners' Week 9 bye, so Mason may only have this weekend before his fantasy value takes a huge hit.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday. Jennings missed his first game of the year in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and is now trending toward missing a second straight game this Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys unless he's able to practice on Friday. It's bad timing for the 49ers, with Brandon Aiyuk suffering a season-ending knee injury last Sunday. The 27-year-old Jennings was a popular addition off the waiver wire this week in fantasy managers despite his injury, as he'll have added opportunities the rest of the year as the WR2 in San Fran behind Deebo Samuel Sr. (illness). If Jennings misses another game in Week 8, both rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing could start in three-wide sets if Samuel is cleared to play.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (foot) was limited in Thursday's practice session after he was listed as a non-participant in the first practice of the week on Wednesday due to a foot sprain. Kittle's status bears watching on Friday, but the fact that he returned to practice on Thursday means he's trending in the right direction to be available for San Fran on Sunday night against the visiting Dallas Cowboys. The 31-year-old five-time Pro Bowler heads into Week 8 as the No. 1 scoring tight end in fantasy, making him a must-start if he's active this weekend. Kittle's target volume should remain strong moving forward with receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) out for the season and with receiver Jauan Jennings (hip) trending toward missing a second straight game. Keep him locked into your starting lineups.
