Clayton Kershaw Could Return Soon

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) was sharp on the mound during his latest rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. The southpaw struck out five batters over three scoreless innings. Kershaw walked one batter and didn't allow a hit during this rehab start. The organization seemed thrilled about the progress Kershaw is making. He'll make another four or five inning rehab start on Friday. If all goes well, Kershaw could be ready to rejoin the Dodgers rotation.

Clayton Kershaw To Make Next Rehab Start On Saturday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-hander Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will make his next minor-league rehab start on Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City and will go three innings. Kershaw had been nearing a return from offseason surgery on his left shoulder when he experienced soreness in his arm during a rehab game with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on June 19. But imaging didn't show anything alarming and shots have alleviated the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer's pain, so he's now back to building his arm back up for his 2024 debut. We probably won't see Kershaw until late July and there are plenty of injury concerns with him these days, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt and is worth stashing in all fantasy leagues to close out the second half of the season. Kershaw was able to make 24 starts in 2023 and went 13-5 with a 2.46 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.

Clayton Kershaw To Throw A Bullpen On Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. This time 10 days ago, Kershaw threw a bullpen and reported discomfort in his surgically repaired left shoulder. But after an MRI exam, "some shots" have cleared things up for Kershaw to return to throwing. "I don't want to say if it's before the (All-Star) break or right after the break, but I'm encouraged where he's at right now," manager Dave Roberts said. The three-time Cy Young winner is expected to rejoin LA's starting rotation this summer, but the team isn't going to rush the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer. If Kershaw's bullpen goes well on Wednesday, he could be cleared to resume a minor-league rehab assignment and make his 2024 debut early in the second half of the season after the All-Star break.
